Lockheed Constellation – Braniff International Airways (First Issue)

Lockheed Constellation in the highly attractive markings of Braniff International Airways. Early first issue from July 98. Has to be seen to be appreciated. PLEASE NOTE: These early Corgi castings and their paint finish was never to a perfect standard, so buyers should expect light imperfections to both. Please don’t purchase if you’re expecting an immaculate model as they do not exist. As with all Corgi Constellations the boxes have light scuffs and creases, mainly to the undersides as a result of being on shop display. BARGAIN PRICE!

The Lockheed Constellation (“Connie”) was a propeller-driven airliner powered by four 18-cylinder radial Wright R-3350 engines. It was built by Lockheed between 1943 and 1958 at its Burbank, California, USA, facility. A total of 856 aircraft were produced in numerous models, all distinguished by a triple-tail design and dolphin-shaped fuselage. The Constellation was used as a civilian airliner and as a U.S. military air transport, seeing service in the Berlin Airlift. It was the presidential aircraft for U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
