Designed as a narrow-bodied, twin-engined airliner to replace the 727, the 757 was first flown on February 19th, 1982. Developed in tandem with the wide-bodied 767 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 757 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes. A total of 1050 aircraft were built before production ceased in 2004, however many airframes have since been retrofitted with drag-reducing blended winglets to help improve fuel economy.

Gemini’s 1:200 scale Boeing 757 series airliners are constructed almost entirely of diecast metal with only the engine nacelles and gear doors in plastic. The fuselage is seamlessly recreated and features a wonderfully sculpted nose, fine photo-etched antennas and pad-printed windows and doors that do not interrupt the lines of the aircraft. The metal landing gear features steerable nose wheels with attached metal gear doors and magnets to securely lock the main gear for ground display.
