Hobby Master 1/72 scale HA3202: Bristol Beaufighter Mk1F R2101/NG-R Night Fighter of 604 Sqn RAF, as flown by ace pilot Group Captain John “Cat’s Eyes” Cunningham CBE, DSO and two Bars, DFC and Bar.

Flying first Blenheims and then the powerful Bristol Beaufighter, by the end of the Blitz in May 1941 he had become the most famous night fighter pilot, successfully claiming 14 night raiders using AI (Airborne Interception – the aircraft version of what later became known as radar.)
His nickname of Cat’s Eyes came from British propaganda explanations in order to cover up the use of AI. It was claimed a special group of British pilots ate carrots for many years to develop superior night vision. Cunningham himself, a self-effacing and modest individual, detested this nickname.
Used on most World War 2 fronts; the Japanese nicknamed the Beaufighter “Whispering Death” due to the quietness of its Hercules engines and its withering firepower.
The model itself is a beautifully accurate representation of the famous Beaufighter. Features inticate panel lines, superb markings with all-black livery, optional undercarriage positions and stand. This is a must-have model for any collection and offered at a great price. Production of 2,500 pieces.
