Length 7.5 inches Wingspan 6.75 inches
Dragon Warbirds has released a magnificent 1/400 scale die-cast model of a C-5A from 337 AS. The model is perfectly shaped, with fine panel lines on the fuselage, wings and tail accurately depicted. The appropriate markings of 337 AS are sharply emblazoned on the gray-painted model. This replica also comes with its own display stand to show off the transport aircraft to best effect. The C-5A is an enormous aircraft, and this hugely detailed Dragon Warbirds item certainly does it justice!
Designed to meet a USAF requirement for a heavy logistics transport, the C-5 was first flown on June 30th, 1968. The t-tail configuration provides unobstructed access to the large rear loading ramp which, in combination with the massive hinged nose, allows for “drive-through” loading and unloading of cargo. The C-5 is one of the largest military aircraft ever built and its cavernous cargo compartment measures 121 feet long by 19 feet wide and 13.5 feet high. This is in addition to an upper deck with seating for 73 passengers. Current versions of the aircraft are capable of lifting up to 270,000 lbs of cargo.
